How Do I Choose the Right Nose Job for Me?

How Do I Choose the Right Nose Job for Me?

Planning your rhinoplasty is one of the most important steps in the nose surgery procedure, but it can seem a little overwhelming at first, particularly when it comes to choosing the shape you want. There are roughly 14 different types of noses in the world—according to some classification systems, at least—so there’s a lot of variety to choose from. Some examples include the Greek nose (which is characterized by an almost perfectly straight, narrow bridge) and the snub nose (which is small and upturned). Of course, even after you’ve picked out the nose shape you would like to achieve, the rest of the process can still be a challenge. With that in mind, when it comes to planning your nose surgery, Sonoma County’s Dr. Stanley Jacobs has a few recommendations:

It’s critical to start off by meeting with Dr. Jacobs and talking to him about what bothers you about your nose, as well as what kind of look you would like to achieve. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. In other words, you can’t just ask for a specific shape that’s a copy of a celebrity you think looks amazing. Ultimately, you need to work with Dr. Jacobs to determine what is possible, what brings the most balance to the face, and what will best harmonize with the rest of your facial features.

As a board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Jacobs will then take a closer look at your anatomy to determine your skin type, your face shape, the position of your chin, and the measurements of your eyes, cheeks, and forehead to put together a customized plan. You will review photographs of your nose, as well as computer imaging used to get a clearer idea of what the final outcome could look like so you can decide how much you want to change.

The goal is to ensure that your nose looks as natural as possible so that it doesn’t take attention away from the beauty of your other features, but instead integrates seamlessly without standing out.
